Monica Simmonds, MSPH, is a career strategist, speaker, and author. This wife and proud mama of two fun boys believes in empowering and encouraging others to take charge of their educational pursuits and, ultimately, their career paths through personalized career coaching, occupational wellness education, and motivational speaking. She is the author of “You Are the Prize” and the “Little Brag Book, ” two anthologies that emerged from her career journey and that of the clients she serves.

Background
Monica has spent over a decade in the corporate world. Monica has served as a Director of Consulting Services at LexisNexis Risk Solutions Healthcare. She led the consulting services team across several product solutions for Health Plan, Life Science, Provider, and Healthcare Information Technology verticals. During her time at CareSource, Monica led the Business Analytics team. Monica has been featured in Healthcare IT. Today, Becker’s Hospital Review, and Healthcare Executives for Innovation. Monica holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Education specializing in Community Health and a minor in Communication Studies from the University of Florida. She is a member of Florida Blue Key and the National Residence Hall Honorary. Monica completed her Master of Science in Public Health with a specialization in Behavioral Health at the University of South Florida and a Graduate Certificate in Translational Research in Adolescent Behavioral Health. Monica has presented public health research at numerous locations, including Harvard University, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, University of Florida, University of South Florida, University of Maryland College Park, Toxicology and Risk Assessment Conference (T.R.A.C.), the Technical University of Darmstadt in Darmstadt, Germany, and more.
Speaking
Monica previously served as Toastmasters International’s Heartbeat Club member, where she won 1st place in a 2019 Area 1 International Speech contest in Ohio, representing the club. Monica believes in empowering and encouraging others to take charge of their career and educational pursuits. As a motivational speaker, she works to transform the career trajectory of her clients and the community through career coaching. Her audience has included teens and young adults in Tampa Bay and surrounding areas. She has spoken for organizations like 100 Black Men of America, the University of Tampa, and Tampa-Hillsborough Action Plan (THAPgroup).
